About Me

For six years, I worked as English teacher at a public high school in the United States. I now live in London and continue to teach, though my job has changed significantly. Things in the UK are amazingly different, and I am still suffering from culture shock when it comes to education here. I like some of the differences, I hate some of them, and some of them I haven't made up my mind about just yet.

In addition to education, I'm passionate about animals (especially of the feline variety), animal rights, gay rights, marriage, film and loads of other things. I wrote a novel once but it wasn't very good. I should write every day but I don't.

I love living in London and there are loads of things about America I do not miss. I prefer the overall culture in the UK as well as the availability of public transport, awareness of global issues, and actual concern for the welfare of the less fortunate demonstrated in the UK system. I love tea, theatre, riding on the train, culture and the English Romantic writers, so I feel very much at home here. I miss a couple of marmalade kitties I helped raise from kittens and that's about it. Everyone else I miss can IM, email and/or call me. Other than random things here and there, don't really think about missing America much.

You won't catch me using my full name on this site. If you're a reader who knows my full name, I request two things: 1. don't use my last name in comments on my site and 2. don't use my name when linking to my site.
