I haven't updated in a long time

I haven't updated, and I don't have the time or energy to do so now. The summer was far, far too short and I was unready to return to school. Classes are fine, I just needed more down time.

The rest of the summer was lovely, fleeting though it was. I wrote an entry while in England about what we did there, but it's still on Andrew's computer and I haven't bothered to upload or edit it. The rest of the trip really was nice. I didn't want to return. But I did, and school started. And though I love my job and find it rewarding (especially while I'm doing it), it continues to be the most taxing thing I can imagine short of perhaps doing this with a small child at home.

I'm tired - overwork and sleep deprivation are rough. I'm working 11-12 hour days at school and then coming home, having dinner, and doing more work (grading and/or planning). Then I go back at 6:30 am and start over, usually scrambling to get all those odds and ends done that keep falling through the cracks. For example, I'm in charge of ordering textbooks for my department and I've been trying for a week now to get 100 vocabulary workbooks ordered for a colleague. That's just one example of probably 20 or 25 little things like that. UG.

Next year I'm eyeing Andrew's school. He's really enjoying it. I think it would help to have him there and vice versa.

Our truck got stolen just before school started. Our oldest kitty is facing some potentially serious health problems that I'd rather not get into, and we're generally stretched pretty thin. Last week we got an unexpected break in the form of a hurricane day. It was a very welcome relief. I could've used a few more days.
